January is now over and most people have started work, business or school. Whether you are a child in school or someone working, remember to set your goals for the year (if you have not) complete with time lines of when you would want to achieve them.
Without such a guide, you will just be moving in any direction and you may never achieve as much as you would if you set up targets beforehand.
But what should you set up?
Divide your goals into various blocks as below to cover all that matters in your life. Here are a few examples of what you may include
- Health goals to include medical checkups, weight reduction, eating healthy, joining a club/gym, starting a sport etc
- School, Work and career: Better grades, Better time management, promotions, training, Plan for career change
- Financial: Saving more, starting a business, increasing market share if already in business, investing, getting into investment clubs
- Social/family: Creating stronger family ties, Getting married, starting a family, learning new crafts, being involved in community matters, Planning for holidays with family and friends, mentoring the young ones
- Spiritual: Pray more, attend mass often, be involved in your community church matters eg teaching children or the youth, joining the choir, joining small Christian communities and Bible study
You can add other areas that are most important to you.
The following steps will make sure that you achieve what you have set
- Divide the goals you make into actionable tasks that can be achieved.
- Then focus and be consistent on a day to day basis.
- Everyday you get up, list 6 important tasks that you must tackle and strive to achieve them.
- If you do not achieve a task, push it to the next day until it is achieved.
- Give yourself a thumps up for any achievement. This encourages you to move in the right direction
- Thereafter, plan to review your achievements monthly or quarterly and make the necessary adjustments.
If you do this consistently, you will be surprised how much you can achieve by end of 2019.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and a fruitful 2019!
